Cinematic Rendering
Push the boundary of digital cinematography with lightning fast spectrally correct GPU rendering that simulates lighting, shadows, and real camera lenses.
OctaneRender® is the world’s first and fastest unbiased, spectrally correct GPU render engine, delivering quality and speed unrivaled by any production renderer on the market.
Octane's state of the art rendering technology combines groundbreaking machine learning optimizations with the latest advancements in physically based rendering
OctaneRender's spectrally-correct GPU path-tracing empowers artists to create the most realistic renders at unparalleled speeds. From an artist friendly interface for real-time iteration to intuitive lighting setups and cutting edge physically based rendering features, Octane offers tools for beginners and experts alike. Interoperable with over 20 of the leading 3D digital content creation tools and augmented by near unlimited distributed GPU cloud compute, Octane enhances any 3D pipeline.
Spectral Rendering uses the full visible light spectrum for true-to-life lighting and scene colors — no approximations here, as with obsolete biased RGB rendering. Octane wields the power of cutting-edge GPU computing, including the latest RTX technology, to render your creations as quickly as possible.
The Octane Photon Tracing kernel is specifically designed to simulate caustics accurately - from the reflections of a fine crystal to hot spots from a magnifying glass, or a rainbow spectrum from a prism. Caustics add a depth of realism to any image, and the Photon Tracing kernel renders beautiful, physically accurate caustics at incredible speeds.
Octane leverages industry-standard ACES and OCIO for the latest in color management to offer a range of solutions: from a simple, single-click option to full-bore, total control over your color pipeline. It’s all up to you. Quick and easy? Check. Want more options? Just pick your color space and output transform to dial in your style.
Render AOVs (arbitrary output variables) are render passes that allow you to output what you need for your compositing tasks, with negligible contributions to render time. And if you want fine control over every little detail, you can isolate lights, shadows, volumes, and object attributes to build your comp. Cryptomattes empower you to isolate material channels-improving comp workflows.
Light. And dark. In perfect harmony. Octane will satisfy your cinematographer with all you need to tell your story with light: area lights, spotlights, SPECTRON™ volumetric lights, HDRI image-based lighting and environments, light linking, physically accurate sky/sun models, and IES lights to match real-world fixtures. Use gobos to add ambiance. You control which aspects of lights affect the scene.
Clouds. Smoke. Fire. Dust. Fog. Render all sorts of particulate matter with the original Octane Volume Medium and the new Arnold Standard Volume medium. Octane supports VDB rendering, SDF rendering, and incredibly detailed micro-surface displacement VECTRON™ volumes to capture natural beauty, or conversely, depict forces of destruction. It’s all here. All you need to do is to add the atmosphere.
Octane’s Node Editor lets you use 10+ different Octane material types and Arnold Standard Surface. Various sub-surface scattering methods (SSS), including RandomWalk, create richness and depth. The Octane material system also features sophisticated hair shaders, complex IORs to replicate any metal or transparent material, chromatic dispersion (with abbe in the Standard Surface material), and absorption. Texture and vertex render-time displacement add more detail along with normal and bump maps to go beyond your polygons. And you can also import complex PBR materials from tools like Substance Designer.
Simulate any camera and lens combination including thin lens, orthographic, fisheye, panoramic, and special purpose cubemap lenses. Control depth of field with bokeh effects (including shutter notch), lens flares, optical vignetting, split-focus diopter and dial in spherical and barrel distortion. Take it further with spherical aberration and other artifacts for that added realism. Even better — do it in stereo! Finish off your renders with great Post Effects, including bloom and glare. New spectral camera lens FX provides realistic simulations for a library of iconic lenses from Angénieux to Zeiss.
Octane supports the industry-standard Open Shading Language, enabling artists to create their own shaders and bring custom shaders from other software directly into OctaneRender projects, or use any of over 80 included OSL example shaders.
Create infinitely complex shapes, details, and visual tricks without loading your GPU with geometry. Vectron lets you render mathematically generated volumes – perfect for FX artists, abstract designers, and anyone pushing past polygonal limits.
The world's leading studios and independent artists use Octane to push the boundary of motion graphics, visualization, virtual production, digital art, and immersive experiences.
